In the year 2314, Earth made contact with alien life. They meant no harm and offered presents of good health and wealth. They called themselves Luphins, and were home to the self-proclaimed Luphinus System, fourteen light-years away. It was a golden age for the people of Earth and the aliens of Luphania alike; both planets prospered from alternate technologies, food sources, and resources. This happened under the Luphin matriarch Aurenia, and it was thought that it would never end.
Everything must fall eventually, and the golden age was no different. In 2398, Aurenia fell ill from human diseases, and when she passed, her son took control of the throne. He was power hungry and didn't care for any lives other than his own; he corrupted the government of Luphania and immediately attacked the Earth. While the war was long and hard, the Earth eventually fell and Luphania's corruption reigned supreme. Most of humanity was enslaved or killed, and only those who could hide from the son's wrath were able to live in freedom. They found a new planet outside of the son's insidious grasp, and named the planet New Earth; that is where they have lived since, though in hiding, as the son eventually found the planet.
He didn't stop at Earth, but moved on to any planets he could find, repeating the process he had taken with Earth. When he reached the Acrinus System, he encountered resistance from not one, but two intensely strong races: the Acrinians and the Zyinians.
The year is now 2474, nearing two centuries from First Contact. The Acrin-Zyin forces have been defeated, but now the son is weak from old age, and the forces have begun to fight back again. Luphania is a wilted version of itself from the son's greed, and the aliens of the Luphinus System are ready for a new ruler, but refuse to give up the power over the other races. The choice is now yours as to what will happen. Will the Luphins succeed in controlling the others? Will the Acrin-Zyin forces regain their freedom, or will they be forced into hiding like humanity? Will humanity ever rise from the ashes of their civilization? The choice is yours; all you have to do is move against the current.
